Privacy Statement
General

When accessing the information offered by Swing Calendar, no personal data is collected and stored with the aim of evaluating individual user behavior. However, certain information and transaction offers can only be processed if a minimum amount of personal data has been disclosed. The relevant data protection regulations apply to this.

Non-tracking data

The use of the website Swing Calendar generates data. In part, the creation of the data is technically necessary, but in some cases data is deliberately collected in order to gain information about the type of use and to be able to continuously adapt the offer to the usage needs. When the website Lindy Hop or one of its subpages is accessed for the first time, a cookie is stored by the load balancer on the visitor’s system. This cookie contains a random hash value that defines the server to which all subsequent requests from the system are addressed. The goal is the uniform load distribution to all servers.

When lindyhop.net or one of its direct subpages are called up, the desktop or mobile-optimized version of the website is displayed, depending on the size of the browser window used. If this automatic setting is changed manually via the “Switch to mobile view” or “Switch to desktop view” button, the new setting is saved on the user’s system via a cookie. The cookie contains the desired setting in the form of text («mobile» or «desktop») and has a lifespan of 20 years. When filling out surveys and forms as well as a course registration, a voluntary participation of the user is assumed and therefore also a voluntary provision of the data. The transmitted data will be used exclusively in the context of the survey or the relevant form. A transfer of the data to third parties is excluded.

Data from tracking activity

The website Swing Calendar and the direct subpages use software for web analytics (currently Matomo - The Google Analytics alternative that protects your data ) to obtain information to improve the offer with the help of anonymized data. This so-called tracking can be prevented by the Do Not Track setting in the common browsers. This setting means that the tag “Do-Not-Track” is sent in the browser request in the header block and the visitor’s actions are not evaluated.

Normally, the following data is collected via the visitor’s system via a Javascript implemented in the website:

  • IP Address
  • Date and time of request
  • Page title of the requested pageURL of the currently requested pageURL previously accessed page (referrer)
  • Current screen resolution
  • Local time
  • Files clicked and downloaded
  • Clicked links pointing to external sites (outlink)
  • Time needed to create and deliver the page to the visitor (page speed)
  • Location: country, region, city, approximate longitude and latitude (geolocation). This information is based on the analysis of the IP address and therefore sometimes provides only very rough results
  • Language version of the browser used (Accept-Language header)
  • Client used (User-Agent header)

The IPv4 address is shortened by the last byte for storage and processing and is therefore anonymized. If Javascript is not available from the user, the following data is collected via the alternative tracking pixel:

  • IP Address
  • Date and time of request
  • Page title of the requested pageURL of the currently requested pageURL previously accessed page (referrer)
  • Current screen resolution
  • Local time
  • Files clicked and downloaded
  • Clicked links pointing to external sites (outlink)

  • Language version of the browser used (Accept-Language header)
  • Client used (User-Agent header)

In order to recognize returning visitors, a cookie is placed on the user’s system during a visit (if possible) containing the following data:

  • Randomly generated unique user ID
  • Time of the first visit of this user ID
  • Time of the last visit of this user ID
  • Total number of visits to this user ID

The assigned ID is random and does not allow any conclusions to be drawn about the person acting. The cookie has a lifespan of 7 days and is extended by a further 7 days if visited within this period. During a visit, each visitor is assigned a random ID (if possible) by means of the session cookie, by means of which all actions on the website can be assigned to this visitor. The cookie is usually automatically deleted when the browser window is closed. The default setting, in which session cookies are automatically deleted either when the tab is closed or the browser is closed, can be overridden manually or by certain convenience functions. The server log is created by default and contains all the essential information of an access. The logged data contains the following information:

  • IP Address
  • User identifier (according to RFC 1413)
  • User ID
  • Date, time, and time zone at which the server received the request
  • Method, requested resource, and protocol used
  • HTTP Status Code
  • Size of the delivered object in bytes

The log files are kept for a limited period of time for technical reasons and then deleted.
